10 FAQs about HFC's graduate Teacher Leadership Program

The graduate Teacher Leadership Program at Holy Family College is designed to help potential teacher leaders acquire the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed for effective leadership in the 21st century.

In an effort to provide more information regarding this respected graduate education degree, the professionals at HFC have outlined just a few of the most frequently asked questions we receive:

1. What is a graduate degree in Teacher Leadership?

HFC's Teacher Leadership Program is aimed at experienced classroom teachers who wish to remain in the classroom while developing the knowledge and skills, which will allow them to take a more active professional leadership role.

It can be completed by experienced educators who hold a teaching license. The Teacher Leadership Program places primary emphasis on practical application of the learning that takes place in the program. This approach allows our students to ground their learning in the reality of their workplaces and enrich their professional lives long before they graduate from the program.

2. What does the Teacher Leadership Program curriculum emphasize?

Grounded in servant leadership, best instructional practices and development as a reflective practitioner, the program is focused on the belief that all students can learn at high levels. The curriculum emphasizes:

  • Models of collaborative and distributed leadership
  • Building a culture focused on excellence to meet organizational challenges and diverse student needs
  • Effective, research-supported instructional approaches
  • Practical application of content

3. What are some of the career opportunities after graduating with a graduate degree in Teacher Leadership?

In addition to being a catalyst for change in the field of education, graduates of HFC's Teacher Leadership Program will be prepared to land careers like:

  • Instructional Coach
  • Staff Development Leader
  • Curriculum Specialist
  • Reading Teacher (if reading licensure is completed as a part of the program)

4. How much is tuition?

Graduate tuition per credit is currently $590 per credit. Find more information about tuition and fees here.

Tuition and fees are due before classes start or a payment plan may be used. Contact Student Accounts at 920-686-6146 for payment arrangements.

5. Is financial aid available?

Master's degree candidates in education are eligible to apply for federal financial aid in the form of student loans. Please visit our Financial Aid page for more information.

6. Can I take advantage of HFC's Strategic Partnerships Program?

If you’re currently working at a school in one of the school districts that HFC partners with, you (and your spouse!) are eligible for the benefits available through our Strategic Partnerships Program.

7. May I transfer graduate credits?

There is a possibility some of your graduate credits may transfer into this program. The program director and Office of the Registrar will review your transcripts for possible graduate transfer credits.

8. Do you need official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended?

You need official transcripts from all accredited schools where you earned a degree. In addition, you will want to send additional official transcripts for any courses that might transfer.

9. What are Holy Family College's values?
