Dr. Chris Domes, president of Silver Lake College, will be guest speaker for the Fr. Bill Zimmer Forum from noon to 1 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Silver Lake College. The book group is free and open to the public.
Presented in collaboration with St. Francis of Assisi parish, the forum will be held in the Endries Family Heritage Room, located on the second floor of the main building on SLC’s campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.
Dr. Domes will discuss Chris Lowney’s book, “Pope Francis: Why He Leads the Way He Leads.”
In his third academic year with Silver Lake College, Dr. Domes is the college’s 10th president. He knows the value of a Catholic college education. Dr. Domes grew up in a Methodist household in western New York, but by the time he graduated from nearby St. Bonaventure University, a Franciscan institution, he had converted to Catholicism.
He earned his doctorate in higher education administration from The George Washington University; his master’s degree in counseling psychology from St. Bonaventure; and his bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education from St. Bonaventure.
The book’s author, a former Jesuit seminarian, writes about the Pope’s leadership style in a “rapidly changing world that requires leaders who value the human need for love, inspiration and meaning,” according to the publisher.
