Junior piano and trumpet recital set for May 2

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College of the Holy Family will present a Junior Recital at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

The public is invited to attend this free junior recital, which will highlight the talents of students Kelly Koeppen on piano and Jonathan McConnell on trumpet. Dr. Stanislava Varshavski will provide piano accompaniment.

Koeppen, of St. Nazianz, is a junior pursuing her bachelor’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy under the instruction of Dr. Diana Shapiro and Dr.Varshavski, both of the college’s piano faculty. Koeppen teaches piano in her own private studio through the Holy Family Conservatory of Music and Take Note Studio, both of Manitowoc. 

McConnell, of Manitowoc, is a student of Dr. William Hampton of the music faculty. A junior, McConnell is studying general and instrumental music education with an emphasis on trumpet. He performs with the Kiel Municipal Band, teaches trumpet at the Holy Family Conservatory of Music, is principal trumpet with the Silver Lake Jazz Band and section leader for the Silver Lake Wind Ensemble.
