Katherine Sohn gives vocal recital on April 21

MANITOWOC, Wis. — The Silver Lake College department of music will present a student vocal recital featuring soprano Katherine Sohn at 7 p.m. on April 21 in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

The public is welcome to this free concert.


The program will include works in English, German and Italian by composers including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi and George Frideric Handel.

Sohn is a student of Dr. Rachel Ware Carlton, director of graduate music. Accompaniment will be provided by Dr. Diana Shapiro, assistant professor of piano and undergraduate music department chair; and soprano Emily Davis, adjunct professor of music.

Sohn is a Silver Lake College senior studying general, choral and instrumental music education. She has participated in numerous ensembles including singing in the Silver Lake Chorale and Silver Lake Concert Choir, playing oboe in the Silver Lake Wind Ensemble, playing clarinet and baritone saxophone in the Silver Lake Jazz Ensemble, and participating in the Silver Lake Handbell Ensemble and Opera Workshop.

She is a 2013 graduate of Howards Grove High School.
