Kodály Summer Music Program Draws Music Educators to Silver Lake College

Posted On June 29, 2016

Thirty music educators from nine states have traveled to Silver Lake College for the two-week Kodály Summer Music Program, which runs through July 8.

They are working on their Master of Music in Music Education-Kodály Emphasis degree, their Organization of American Kodály Educators-endorsed Kodály certificate, their continuing education credits or taking workshops.

Dr. John Feierabend, considered one of the leading authorities on music and movement development in childhood, is the Chair of the summer program at Silver Lake College.

Sister Lorna Zemke, an internationally recognized Kodály Music Educator and Emeritus Professor of Music at Silver Lake College, is among the program’s faculty members.

Kodály is an experience-based approach to teaching music developed in Hungary by Zoltán Kodály during the mid-20th century.
