Public welcome to observe vocal master class

MANITOWOC , Wis. — This is a unique opportunity for music students, future music students, music educators and music lovers.

Silver Lake College of the Holy Family invites members of the public to observe a vocal master class with soprano Dr. Tanya Kruse and pianist Janna Ernst starting at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13. The class will be held in the Zemke-Daniel Rehearsal Hall of the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

Students will each sing a piece and then the clinicians will work with them on technical and expressive aspects of singing. The class serves as an educational experience for the students; guests can learn something new about the voice and vocal performing arts.

Silver Lake College music students taking part include baritone Noah Liermann, soprano Dawn Welling, tenor Young Moua, soprano Theresa Nier and baritone Brad Fahley.

Dr. Kruse is associate professor of voice and opera at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she is area head of vocal performance. Ernst is a member of the music faculty in opera theater at UWM.
