SLC choral concert set for Oct. 16

The Silver Lake College Music Department invites the public to its Fall Choral Concert at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

The concert will feature the Silver Lake Concert Choir, the Clipper City Chordsmen and the Silver Lake Chorale. Damon J. Carlson is conductor; Dave Buss is music director; and Zach Holzer is accompanist.

The Concert Choir will sing traditional and contemporary pieces, including “Evening Star,” by Victor Johnson, based on a poem by Edgar Allen Poe; and “Good-Night” by Matthew Emery, based on a poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar.

The Clipper City Chordsmen will perform traditional pieces as well as “Consider Yourself,” from the musical “Oliver.”

Chorale selections will be by composers Palestrina, Stroope, Emery, and Brinsmead.
