The Silver Lake College instrumental ensembles will present their spring concert on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, located on campus at 2406 S. Alverno Road.
Admission is $5. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance by calling (920) 686-6173. The concert is open to the public.
The first half of the concert will feature the Silver Lake Handbell Ensemble, under the direction of Sandra Eithun, and the Silver Lake String Ensemble, under the direction of Monica Hrudik. The Handbell Ensemble will perform classic works such as “You Raise Me Up.” The String Ensemble will perform “Nimrod” from “Enigma Variations” and a concerto grosso by Baroque composer Arcangelo Corelli.
The Silver Lake Wind Ensemble will close the program with “Orchestral Treasures,” which will consist of exciting orchestral transcriptions for band. Music by Mozart, Beethoven, Puccini, Shostakovich, von Suppé, and Saint-Saëns will be performed.
The guest soloist for the evening will be soprano Rachel Ware Carlton, voice instructor at Silver Lake College. Ware Carlton will be performing “Angelo del Cielo” from Puccini’s opera, “Suor Angelica.”
