MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College music student Noah Liermann of Newton is living his dream as he tours the state with Kids from Wisconsin.
Liermann was lucky — and talented enough — to be selected as a singer/dancer for the iconic musical troupe.
As part of its summer tour, Kids from Wisconsin will perform in Manitowoc at 6:30 p.m. on July 13 at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St.
“Being part of the Kids from Wisconsin has been a goal and dream that I have been looking forward to for many years,” he said in an email from the road. “Due to the uniqueness of this group, I’ve met many astounding people, and in a short time we have become one big family.”
Liermann, who is majoring in music performance and pedagogy, will be a sophomore at Silver Lake College in fall.
“My goal in life is to become a professional musician, with this experience being the first step in the process to achieving that,” he said. “Since the beginning of this season with Kids from Wisconsin, I have been learning a lot about the process of being part of a professional group … and know that I am going to be able to utilize my experience from this entire summer for my future.”
Kids from Wisconsin was founded in 1969 and is comprised of performers from across the state, ages 15 to 20. The ensemble features 20 singer/dancers and a live band, performing everything from Broadway tunes to swing music to current artists.
Members of the Kids from Wisconsin tour through the end of August. Every summer, the group is showcased at the Wisconsin State Fair, performing twice daily. A complete tour schedule can be found at: kidsfromwisconsin.org.
