Silver Lake College music students chosen for state honors band

Posted On November 18, 2015

Two Silver Lake College music students — Katherine Sohn and Molly Hahn — were accepted to perform in the 2016 Intercollegiate Honors Band of the National Band Association’s Wisconsin Chapter.

The band consists of 62 students from 15 Wisconsin colleges and universities.

Katherine is a junior Instrumental/General Music major and oboe player. She was named Principal Oboe in this year’s ensemble.

“To my knowledge, this is the first time a Silver Lake College student has ever been first chair in the college honors band,” said Jeremiah Eis, Assistant Professor of Music.

Molly is a junior Accounting major and flute player.

“Most students in the honors band are music majors. Non-majors must truly be exceptional to be accepted, and Molly is certainly that,” Eis said.

The students will be performing at the National Band Association's state convention in Appleton, Jan. 21-24.
