Holy Family College Hosts 'Collage' Exhibit by Lybra Ray

Posted On February 18, 2019

MANITOWOC, Wis. – Bursts of vibrant colors will greet those who visit Lybra Ray’s “Collage” exhibit in Lake’s Edge Gallery in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance at Holy Family College, 2406 S. Alverno Road. “Collage,” an exhibition of paintings with collage elements, is currently on display through Feb. 22.

TreeRay grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is currently based in Haven, Wisconsin. Her work combines painting and collage.

“Lybra’s approach to collage is expressive and painterly,” says Dr. Dionne Landgraf, associate professor of art and art department co-chair at Holy Family College. “She speaks visually with a voice that reflects our inner interest in freedom and personal expression."

According to Ray’s artist statement, while traveling in Paris, a visit to a pop-up studio where the artist’s paintings combined collage and street art sparked reassurance in her focus on collage paintings. A four-month trip to Brazil in 2014 provided a fresh perspective for Ray and inspired her to begin her own artistic journey.

Located inside the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, Lake’s Edge Gallery is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
