Silver Lake College presents senior voice recital of Thomas Roberts on Dec. 9

The Silver Lake College Department of Music will present the Senior Voice Recital of Thomas Roberts beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 9.

The recital will be held in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road. It is free and open to the public.

Thomas, a baritone, is a student of Dr. Rachel Ware Carlton, Division Director of Undergraduate and Graduate Music. He will perform with Dr. Stanislava Varshavski, collaborative artist on piano.

The program will span the centuries with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Claude Debussy, Aaron Copland, and Kurt Weill.

Thomas is well known to local audiences from his appearances in community theater productions with groups including The Masquers Inc. and Peter Quince Performing Company.

A 2005 graduate of Lincoln High School, Thomas is finishing up a degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Silver Lake College.

Since 2012, he has directed, produced, written, choreographed and performed in the College’s Annual Scholarship Gala, which has continued to grow each year. He has held positions as President and Vice President with the Collegiate National Association for Music Educators.

Thomas also has performed with the Silver Lake Chorale, for four years acting as President and Vice President.
