Silver Lake College music student and vocalist Christopher Guy was a finalist in the Senior Men’s Division and won Third Place during the Wisconsin National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in Eau Claire earlier this month.

“This is an important accomplishment for Christopher, my studio, and for the vocal program at Silver Lake College,” said Dr. Rachel Ware Carlton, Division Director for Graduate and Undergraduate music.

Also competing were vocal students Emily Laurin and Jeffrey Erdman.

“All represented us beautifully and received great comments from the judges,” said Dr. Ware Carlton.

The mission of the association is “to encourage the highest standards of the vocal art and of ethical principles in the teaching of singing; and to promote vocal education and research at all levels, both for the enrichment of the general public and for the professional advancement of the talented,” according to its website.
