MANITOWOC, WIS. — Artists of all abilities and backgrounds — whether students or community members — are welcome to paint outdoor scenes on the Silver Lake College campus during the Water’s Edge Artists, Painters for Preservation, plein air “Paint Out” event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 1. The event is being hosted by the Silver Lake College’s Art Department.
"The 'Paint Out' is a fun way to get artists on campus interacting with our student population,” said Erin LaBonte, associate professor of art at Silver Lake College. “Pam Clausen, Water’s Edge Artists artist, will be visiting my painting class on Thursday before the event to do a demonstration for the students, and help prepare them for the Saturday event. We have such a beautiful campus I’m excited to see the paintings that will result from the experience.”
Water’s Edge Artists gather to paint to stimulate the need to preserve nature.
In the event that the forecast doesn’t look good for Oct. 1, the rain date for this event is Sept. 30 from 8 a.m. to sunset.
Participants are invited to park in the large parking lot off the east entrance, or art wing, of the main building, and enter through those doors. Meal options will be available in the campus cafeteria with breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m., lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner 5-7 p.m. Sept. 30. On Oct. 1, brunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 5-7 p.m.
Guests are welcome to explore the Silver Lake College and the Mother House campuses for this event. A sink and easels will be available in Room 107 of the art department, which will serve as the “home base” during the event.
