MANITOWOC — Silver Lake College welcomes Dr. Michael Hardy, our new assistant dean of the School of Education.
Dr. Hardy is excited to join the Silver Lake College community during this time of growth and innovation, and looks forward to collaborating with all constituents of the community in advancing the college toward its mission and vision.
He most recently served as assistant provost at Saint Xavier University in Chicago. Prior to that, he was professor in the university’s department of mathematics, where he coordinated the mathematics education program for 10 years.
Dr. Hardy also served on the faculties of the College of Education and Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi-Gulf Coast in Long Beach, the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and what was then the College of Arts and Sciences at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
As a faculty member, his research focused on teachers’ pedagogical beliefs, practices and professional development, particularly with regard to teaching via technology.
Dr. Hardy also has extensive experience in the realm of accreditation and serves as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission. Prior to commencing his career in higher education, he taught secondary mathematics in Texas and New Mexico.
He holds a doctorate in mathematics education from Florida State University in Tallahassee and a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
