MANITOWOC, Wis. — Manitowoc native Phil Brandl, a 1975 graduate of Silver Lake College, was recently honored by the housewares industry.
Brandl, president and chief executive officer of the International Housewares Association, received the Lifetime Leadership Award from the Housewares Charity Foundation during its 20th annual gala at Navy Pier in Chicago earlier this month.
In a collaborative effort among industry manufacturers, retailers and allied industry partners, the nonprofit foundation hosts this annual event to raise funds for critical causes, unite the housewares industry and honor its leaders. Honorees are selected for their humanitarian efforts and exceptional leadership. Brandl was instrumental in founding the charity foundation and served as its legacy co-chair.
Brandl, now of Delavan, graduated from Silver Lake College with a Bachelor of Science degree in history/social science. He has served as president of the International Housewares Association for 20 years. The association owns and operates the International Home + Housewares Show, held every March in Chicago, which attracts more than 62,000 attendees from around the globe. It is the largest annual trade event held at Chicago’s McCormick Place complex and holds the distinction of being the 14th largest trade show in the United States.
