MANITOWOC, Wis. — The “Lakeshore Artists Guild Exhibit” opens Nov. 7 and runs through Dec. 16 in the Donald P. Taylor Gallery at Silver Lake College, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

A free artists’ reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the art department, located on the first floor of Main Hall.

The reception is in conjunction with the exhibit "Tactile Type: Recent works by Stephanie Carpenter," running through Nov. 18 in the Du Charme Erdmann Gallery.

Meet the artists taking part in two exhibits, enjoy refreshments, a live painting demonstration and live music by Silver Lake College students Lydia Matthews, piano; Will Elliott, string bass; and Ben Johnston, saxophone.

The Lakeshore Artists Guild, which represents area artists in a wide variety of visual art forms, was formed to advance the appreciation of art.

Members displaying their works include: Chad Beeman, oil painting; David Carpenter, oil painting; Stephanie Carpenter, wood-type letterpress; Corey and Cindy Hoppenrath, photography; James and Jill Iverson, showing works from their business, Erik James Leather Works; Erin LaBonte, mixed media; Cheryl Mahowald, handmade paper; David Martin, pottery; Brian Mittnacht, guitars; Jason Prigge, oil painting; and Tina Prigge, photography.

Following the reception, the Varshavski & Shapiro Piano Duo will perform starting at 7 p.m. in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus as part of Night of the Arts.
