SLC presents Tanya Kruse on April 13

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College will present a vocal performance by Dr. Tanya Kruse as part of its Artist Music Series starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 13 in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

Critics have praised her “vocal heft, dark luster and bold phrasing,” as well as her “impressive soprano voice that literally soars.”

Dr. Kruse is associate professor of voice and opera at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she also is area head of vocal performance. She is known internationally as a voice pedagogue, giving master classes and presenting research throughout the United States and abroad.

Comfortable in oratorio, art song and opera, Dr. Kruse has played La Contessa in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Cio-Cio San in “Madam Butterfly,” Rusalka in“Rusalka,” Fiordiligi in “Così fan tutte,” and Angelica in “Suor Angelica,” among others.

The program will feature pieces by composers Richard Wagner, Samuel Barber and Giuseppe Verdi. 

Janna Ernst, music faculty in opera theater at UWM, will provide piano accompaniment.
