Silver Lake College held a rededication of Brideen Hall on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015. Brideen Hall, on the first floor of Main Hall, houses the School of Education. The original Brideen Hall, located in Clare Hall, was dedicated on Oct. 23, 1990. The name honors the late Sister M. Brideen Long, who was President of Holy Family College from 1957 to 1969. She joined the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1926 and dedicated her life to education.
The program included hymns by the Sister’s Choir; an invocation by Sister Lorita Gaffney, Executive Director of Mission Integration; and a welcome address by Dr. Chris Domes, President of the College. Speakers included Sister Natalie Binversie, Community Director of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; Matthew Soucy, Assistant Dean of the School of Education; and Carrie A. (Kane) Froelich, family member of Sister Brideen. Father Hilary Brzezinski, Chaplain, performed the blessing of the plaque.
In addition to Carrie, Sister Brideen’s family members attending included Neil Kane, Harold Kane, Susie Luther, Cheryl Van Rite and Nicole Suehring with Leo, 4 months.
