Judy Turba, co-director of the Norbertine Center for Spirituality at St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere, will be guest speaker at the Fr. Bill Zimmer Forum from noon to 1 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Silver Lake College. She will discuss Joan Chittister’s book, “The Gift of Years.”
The book group will meet in the Endries Family Heritage Room, located on the second floor of the main building on SLC’s campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road. The forum, presented by SLC in collaboration with St. Francis of Assisi parish, is free and open to the public.
Judy is executive editor of Abbey Magazine and offers a variety of presentations at the Norbertine Center for Spirituality and on the road. She is a graduate of St. Norbert College and earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Judy has worked for more than 29 years in Norbertine institutions, including Abbot Pennings High School, Notre Dame Academy, and St. Norbert College as an educator, counselor, and administrator.
She and her husband have traveled to Zambia to spend time in the schools for the poorest of the poor.
Judy enjoys hiking, swimming, traveling, reading, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. She recently took first place in a sprint triathlon. “It’s not that I’m fast, it’s just that there are not many women my age taking part in sprint triathlons,” she said.
