MANITOWOC, Wis. — Dr. Mark Heimermann of Port Washington has joined Silver Lake College as assistant professor of English.
“I’m excited to take part in such a collaborative and student-centered environment, and I look forward to getting to know the students,” he said. “This fall, I will be teaching Composition I, American Literature to 1865, and Literary Theory, as well as facilitating a number of composition labs.”
Dr. Heimermann received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.
His research analyzes depictions of childhood in contemporary comics and literature. Dr. Heimermann is the co-editor of “Picturing Childhood: Youth in Transnational Comics.” His work has been published in the Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics, as well as the anthologies, “The Child in Post-Apocalyptic Cinema” and “Misfit Children: An Inquiry into Childhood Belonging.”
