SLC, YMCA collaborate for Wine and Chocolate Tasting event on Feb. 13

Posted On January 14, 2015

Looking for a fun and memorable girls’ night out?

Join Silver Lake College and the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA for their inaugural Wine and Chocolate Tasting event, which is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 13 in the Ariens Atrium, located on the SLC campus at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

The event was designed to give moms something to do on the evening of the YMCA’s father-daughter dance, but it's open to anyone, said Carolyn Jensen, senior program director of the YMCA.

“It’s a nice, relaxing evening. You can bring friends and socialize and finish off your week,” Jensen said.

Roxanna Strawn, SLC's Director of Development, added, “Our event is all about chocolate, and there will be plenty for tasting. We’ll also learn about which wines pair well with chocolate.”

Participants can sample chocolates and desserts from local businesses, taste wines that complement the flavor of chocolate and play Beauty Bingo. They also can compete for fun prizes, meet local vendors of particular interest to women and enjoy a wine and beer cash bar.

A movie and popcorn for children ages 4 to 10 will be available for $5 per child (preregistration is required).

Tickets reserved by Feb. 6 are $20. Tickets purchased after Feb. 6 or at the door are $25. Proceeds from the event will benefit educational programs.

This is one of a number of collaborative projects between SLC and the YMCA, Strawn said.
