The paper is titled, “The Which Blair Project: Occasioning Colonial American Poetry in Two Poems by the Rev. Samuel Davies.” The paper uses two poems by Davies, an 18th-century Presbyterian minister, to theorize the formal dimensions of the occasion of occasional poetry and to suggest how we might read the occasionality of Colonial American poetry as an effect of coloniality.
