MANITOWOC, Wis. — Dr. Albert Sears, professor of English at Silver Lake College, has been named editor of the AFCU Journal.
In addition to his duties at Silver Lake College, he will serve a two-year term with the publication.
The 16-year-old journal, published by the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities, features peer-reviewed research and writings by faculty and administrators of AFCU institutions.
The annual publication strives to be a catalyst for faculty and staff to reflect on the distinct character of a Franciscan institution of higher education.
“Over the years, the AFCU Journal has been a stimulating resource for me in understanding what it means to be a faculty member at a Franciscan college. I’m really looking forward to serving the AFCU by working on the Journal,” Dr. Sears said.
The publication’s purpose is to:
- Strengthen the vision of Catholic higher education in the Franciscan tradition;
- Connect all the discrete disciplines to a Franciscan philosophy and heritage;
- Encourage an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to research and reflection from the Franciscan school of today; and
- To provide motivation for reflection on the breadth and depth of scholarship emanating from Franciscan institution of higher learning.
