Matthews, a student of Dr. Diana Shapiro, will perform in the Franciscan Music Center for Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

Her program features pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Francis Poulenc, Joseph Haydn, Manuel de Falla, Frederic Chopin and Sergei Prokofiev.

Matthews is pursuing a degree in piano pedagogy and performance with a minor in English. She has been a member of the Silver Lake Jazz Ensemble and Concert Choir and presently enjoys ringing bells with the Handbell Ensemble.

Matthews began piano lessons at the age of 8 and discovered a love for music. Today she enjoys teaching 18 private students, plays for church services regularly and accompanies for various events such as Solo & Ensemble festivals. She also performs for occasions such as weddings and enjoys collaborating with other musicians. Her goal is to focus primarily on teaching, with a plan to have her own studio in future years.
