SLC 90, Robert Morris-Peoria 38
The Silver Lake College women’s basketball team rolled to a 90-38 victory over Robert Morris University-Peoria (Illinois) on Dec. 5 in Manitowoc.
The Lakers scored the first 12 points of the game and never looked back en route to a 42-17 halftime lead.
Sophomore guard Danielle Byrum of Sheboygan made five of seven three-point attempts and finished with 15 points. As a team, SLC shot 46 percent from three-point range. Sophomore forward Danelle Buck of Newton added 15 points.
Also for the Lakers, senior guard Kaela Cheesman of Rolla, Mo., scored 13 points, senior forward Courtney Clavers of Brillion added 10 points and sophomore forward Daisneekqua Thompson of Pontiac, Mich., grabbed 12 rebounds.
SLC is ranked No. 10 nationally in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s first poll of the season that was announced on Dec. 4.
The Lakers’ next game is today (Tuesday) at 6 p.m. against Maranatha Baptist University. The game (admission is free) will be held at the UW-Manitowoc gymnasium, 705 Viebahn St., Manitowoc.
SLC 85, UW-Manitowoc 39
Everyone on the SLC roster scored in a victory over the Blue Devils on Nov. 30.
Senior center Raelyn Woock of Burnett scored a game-high 23 points for the Lakers, who cruised to a 28-6 first-quarter lead.
Scoring 10 points each for SLC was Thompson and freshman guard Ashley Rumlow of Oshkosh.
Robert Morris 74, SLC 58
Sophomore guard Jordan Portee of Pontiac, S.C., finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists, but the Lakers came up short on Dec. 6 in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Junior forward Pat Zemanovic of Genesee came off the bench to score 13 points for the Lakers. Junior center Stevens Alexis of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., added 12 points, and senior guard Denzel Smith of Kenosha chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Western Illinois 84, SLC 49
Smith scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds, but the Lakers lost on Dec. 2 in Macomb, Ill.
Portee added 10 points and four assists, while Alexis contributed eight points.
